Flossmoor FD responds to 57 fires in 2017

Flossmoor Fire Department responded to 206 calls in 2017 - 28 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Flossmoor included 57 fires - 47 structure fires, one vehicle fire and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $382,600 in fire loss - or about $6,712 per fire.

The department also received 149 false calls, including three malicious calls and 146 other false calls.

The calls resulted in four civilian fire-related injuries.

The Flossmoor Firefighters Pension Fund, which has three active employees and three retired or inactive employees, was $232,752 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,063 for every fire in 2016.
