Lemont FPD responds to 88 fires in 2017

Lemont Fire Protection District responded to 633 calls in 2017 - 1.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Lemont included 88 fires - 38 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 39 other fires. The fire department also responded to six calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $362,675 in fire loss - or about $4,121 per fire.

The department also received 539 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 531 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and 13 were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Lemont Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $12,361,278 in 2017.

The Lemont FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 51 active employees and 21 retired or inactive employees, was $849,230 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $13,065 for every fire in 2016.
