Summit FD responds to 35 fires in 2017

Summit Fire Department responded to 109 calls in 2017 - 18 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Summit included 35 fires - 11 structure fires, 16 vehicle fires and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $609,500 in fire loss - or about $17,414 per fire.

The department also received 71 false calls, including one malicious call and 70 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
