Thornton Fire Department responded to 135 calls in 2017 - 45.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Thornton included 90 fires - 71 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 14 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $18,700 in fire loss - or about $208 per fire.

The department also received 44 false calls, including one malicious call and 43 other false calls.
