Tinley Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to 585 calls in 2017 - 17.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Tinley Park included 109 fires - 43 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 47 other fires. The fire department also responded to seven calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $707,280 in fire loss - or about $6,489 per fire.

The department also received 469 false calls, including four malicious calls and 465 other false calls.
