Community High School District 218 accumulated $11.64 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a South Cook News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, CHSD 218 reported 25.4 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 36.9 percent.
