Allstate Agency issued the following announcement on Aug. 16.
Encompass has announced it is helping customers keep track of what may be happening in their home by deploying safety kits that monitor for fires, leaks and frozen pipes while homeowners are away. The kits are packed with smart sensors provided by Roost, a leader in Home Telematics for property insurance carriers. Encompass and Roost are working together to bring Roost’s Home Telematics Program (HTP) to Encompass policyholders to help them take action faster and try to reduce damage when certain property accidents happen.
The Encompass – Roost kits will be available to a limited number of policyholders and include the award-winning Roost Smart 9V Battery (for smoke alarms) and the Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector. These innovative devices deliver notifications to customers’ smartphones when a suspected water leak or fire occurs. A co-branded mobile app will help policyholders manage the Roost devices.

The HTP also allows us to receive critical and objective analytics that can help us better engage with and help policyholders, while also helping inform how we can best write our policies to protect them.”
Encompass is Roost’s third insurance industry member participating in the HTP. “Welcoming Encompass is great validation, and an incredible milestone,” said Roel Peeters, Roost CEO. “By leveraging the unique benefits, insights and best practices of the program, we believe this is a seminal moment for Home Telematics, and a stepping stone to changing the way that home risk is measured, and insurance is underwritten.”
