South Holland School District 150 students suspended 31 times in a single school year

South Holland School District 150 reported 31 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The district transferred one students to another program instead of suspending or expelling them.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 31 students during the year. That equates to 3.3 percent of the 950 students enrolled.

Of the 31 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 23 incidents. There were seven incidents of unspecified reasons. For 18 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
