Village of Alsip Village Committee met March 25. 

Here is the agenda as provided by the committee:

3. OFFICERS REPORTS

      A. Mayor Ryan

            1) Presentation by Dan Aykroyd of 7-Eleven, regarding a possible new store being built at 127th & Pulaski and the inclusion of both gasoline, diesel and liquor sales.

      B. Clerk Petzel

           1) Presentation of the February 2019 IDOT Motor Fuel Tax Allotment in the amount of $38,038.11.

           2) Discussion of amending Chapter 19 Traffic and Motor Vehicles, Article IV Motor Vehicle Licenses for vehicle stickers.

4. PUBLIC FORUM

      A. Myra Davis of 3621 W. 125th Street will address damage to her mailbox by the Village of Alsip.

5. STANDING COMMITTEES

      A. Finance, Trustee McLawhorn

           1) List of payroll and accounts payable.

           2) Discussion to use Santori Energy to bid electricity rates on April 1st, 2019.

      B. Fire, Trustee McLawhorn

          1) Discussion regarding a request to approve the replacement of the ladder on the Fire Department Ladder Truck by Seagrave Manufacturing.

          2) Request for approval for Chief Styczynski to attend the Illinois Fire Chief’s Association Annual Symposium from May 15th – 17th, 2019 for a cost not to exceed $390.00.

      C. Police, Trustee McGreal

           1) Discussion to proceed with the process and hire one (1) police officer for the May Academy. Making this hire will temporarily put us over ordinance. We have an Officer relocating out of state as soon as May and with the academy being sixteen (16) weeks long plus a twelve (12) week field training program I would like to make this hire now. The next academy after the May academy is September.

           2) Presentation of the February 2019 Monthly Activity Report.

      D. Public Works and Boat Launch, Trustee Juarez

           1) Request for approval to hire six (6) full-time temporary Public Works seasonal employees. Each to work forty (40) hours a week for a maximum of fourteen (14) weeks at $11.00 per hour.

           2) Request for approval to hire two (2) part-time Boat Launch seasonal employees. Each to work 12-16 hours per week at $11.00 per hour from May 24th through October 31st, 2019.

      E. Building, Trustee Zielinski

           1) Request for approval to hire two (2) part-time summer personnel for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) weeks.

      F. Sewer and Water, Trustee Dalzell

           1) Request for approval to hire four (4) part-time summer personnel for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) weeks.

           2) Request for approval to purchased water meters and FlexNet radios at a cost not to exceed $19,370.00. This purchase is for the ongoing replacement of residential meters and has been appropriated for in the FY19 budget.

      G. License, Trustee Juarez

           1) Presentation of a list of licenses dated March 8th through March 25th, 2019.

      H. Economic Development, Trustee Murphy

           1) Discussion to hire Kane, McKenna and Associates Inc. for the purpose of researching and advising on the creation of a redevelopment area around Cicero Avenue.

      I. Planning and Zoning, Zielinski

      A. Village Properties, Trustee McLawhorn

           1) Request for approval to hire two (2) part-time summer personnel for the Village Hall, for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) weeks.

           2) Request for approval to hire two (2) part-time summer personnel for Heritage I, for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) weeks.

          3) Request for approval to hire two (2) part-time summer personnel for Heritage II, for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) weeks.
