The price of local government in 2017: Village of Dolton

The Village of Dolton budget was $37.77 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $4,710 per household.

That's an increase of 6.9 percent from 2016, when the village spent $35.35 million, or $4,407 per household.

Dolton has 8,020 households and a population of 23,153.

Since 2001, the Village of Dolton budget has grown by 40.9 percent, from $26.81 million. The village population has fallen 9.9 percent over the same period, from 25,700.

Salaries accounted for 27.2 percent of village spending in 2017. Dolton property taxpayers paid $10.27 million for 132 full-time employees and 21 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 160 full-time employees and 115 part-time employees, and spent $9.78 million.
