The price of local government in 2017: Summit Village

Budget 11

The Summit Village budget was $15 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $6,472 per household.

That's a decrease of 14.7 percent from 2016, when the village spent $17.59 million, or $7,592 per household.

Summit has 2,317 households and a population of 11,314.

Since 2001, the Summit Village budget has grown by 35.2 percent, from $11.09 million. The village population has grown 6.4 percent over the same period, from 10,637.

Salaries accounted for 43.6 percent of village spending in 2017. Summit property taxpayers paid $6.54 million for 50 full-time employees and 80 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 66 full-time employees and 80 part-time employees, and spent $5.18 million.
