Former state university employee Ruey Ju Yang paid in $100K to pension fund, could collect $1.47M in retirement

Former state university employee Julia Ruey Ju Yang, who retired in January 2016, saved $99,622 toward a pension over 14 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Ruey Ju Yang would collect as much as $1.47 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.

The projection assumes Ruey Ju Yang received $30,943 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Ruey Ju Yang will have already received $129,453 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
