The data shows that 26 men and two women were released in Markham. The median age of the parolees was 37. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2018, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2011.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Harry McGowan. He was convicted of a property crime in 2007 when he was 27 years old. He is now 39.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
