REGULAR MEETING OF THE BLOOM
TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARCH 12, 2019
The meeting was called pursuant to written order to the Supervisor and the Board more than 48 hours to the time given as aforesaid being on file in the office of the Town Clerk, pursuant to the Authority of 60 ILCS 1/30-15 et seq. of the Revised Statutes of the State of Illinois.
Supervisor Thomas J. Somer requesting Clerk Lisa M. Aprati to call the roll to open the meeting.
The meeting continued with the roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Also present were Highway Commissioner Joseph Patrick Stanfa, Administrator Dan Sanaghan, Disabled Services Director/Food Pantry Director Leticia Gonzalez, Maintenance Director George Sylvester, Senior Director Sheryl Ford and Deputy Clerk Jane Ruiz.
Absent were Assessor Nora Martinez-Gomez, Trustee Carla Matthews and Trustee Michael Noonan.
Supervisor Somer welcomed Trustee Watson and thanked him for attending the board meeting.
The minutes of February 12, 2019, board meeting was presented to the board and approved on a motion made by Trustee Adams seconded by Trustee Watson.

APPROVE PROCLAMATION HONORING WILLIAM WACHEL ON THIS 100TH BIRTHDAY:
Supervisor Somer addressed the board members stating the Proclamation was going to be presented to Mr. Wachel on his 100th, which was March 12, 2019. Due to lack of a quorum, the March 12, 2019 board meeting was cancelled.
Supervisor Somer stated the plaque would be presented to Mr. Wachel at the senior luncheon at the Serbian Hall on Thursday, March 21, 2019.

Trustee Watson thanked everyone for the fruit basket, for everyone’s thoughtfulness and the kind gestures.
Highway Commissioner Stanfa announced April 03, 2019 is Township Topics Day in Springfield. Commissioner Stanfa stated Governor Pritzker is trying to find grant resources for Township Highway Departments. Commissioner Stanfa stated his first project would be to rebuild 188th Street in Lansing to avoid the constant flooding.

AUTHORIZATION FOR CLERK’S SIGNATURE STAMP ATTESTATION:
Clerk Aprati affirmed and signed attestation for bills from February 26, 2019 to March 19, 2019.

Trustee Adams made a motion to approve the bills seconded by Trustee Watson.

ASSESSOR REPORT:
Supervisor Somer addressed the board members stating the Assessor report was placed in the board packets.
DISABLED SERVICES REPORT:
Disabled Services Director Leticia Gonzalez reviewed the Disabled Services report.
FOOD PANTRY REPORT:
Food Pantry Director Leticia Gonzalez reviewed the Food Pantry report.
GENERAL ASSISTANCE REPORT:
Supervisor Somer addressed the board members stating the General Assistance report was placed in the board packets.
SENIOR DEPARTMENT REPORT:
Senior Director Sheryl Ford reviewed the Senior Department report.
NEW BUSINESS;
DONATION REQUEST FROM CHICAGO HEIGHTS PARK DISTRICT BASEBALL SPONSORSHIP:
Supervisor Somer addressed the board of members stating the first donation request is from Chicago Heights Park District Baseball Sponsorship. The Township donated $100.00 in September 2018 for the haunted trails.
Trustee Watson made a motion to donate $250.00 for a Team Sponsorship seconded by Trustee Adams.

DONATION REQUEST FROM LARC ANNUAL APPRECIATION DINNER AD BOOK:
Supervisor Somer stated the Township donates to the golf outing in July.
Donation request died due to lack of action.
DONATION REQUEST FROM THOMAS CELLINI HUNTINGTON’S FOUNDATION 14TH ANNUAL SPRING FLING:
Supervisor Somer addressed the board members stating the Township donated $100.00 for the 2018 Spring Fling.
Trustee Adams made a motion to donate $100.00 seconded by Trustee Watson.

CHANGE TIME OF APRIL 09, 2019 BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEETING AT 6:00 P.M. TO IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING ON APRIL 09, 2019 AT 6:30 P.M.:
Supervisor Somer requested a motion to change the April 09, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to immediately following the 6:30 p.m. Annual Town Meeting.

OTHER BUSINESS:
Administrator Sanaghan addressed the board members stating the slide pool is in need of a new pump. The cost of the pump will be approximately $800.00 to $1,300.00.
Clerk Aprati addressed the board members stating Township Clerks received notification that the Townships will no longer sell the Cook County Stickers. The stickers will be available at a currency exchange.
Commissioner Stanfa addressed the board members stating the State of Illinois, Township Day is Saturday, June 15, 2019.
With nothing further, to discuss Supervisor Somer requested a motion to adjourn.
Trustee Adams made a motion seconded by Trustee Watson.
