Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees in Cook County convicted of crimes involving alcohol

There were 128 offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol released on parole in Cook County during the first quarter of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Cook News.

The data shows that 121 men and seven women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving alcohol, three were veterans, and the median age was 44. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 72-year-old man sentenced in 2014.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Michael P. Albers. He was convicted in 2011 when he was 24 years old. He is now 32.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol were paroled during the first quarter of 2019 in each Illinois county.
