City of Markham City Council met June 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Roger Agpawa called the Regular Meeting of the Markham City Council to order at 6:09 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Prayer led by Ald. McDowell. Roll Call was taken by City Clerk, Jennifer Coles.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN PRESENT Alderman Rondal Jones

Alderman William Barron Alderwoman Brenna Hampton Alderwoman Wanda McDowell

ALSO PRESENT: Attorney, Steven Miller

Treasurer, Belinda Richardson

OPEN FLOOR

Motion by Ald. Hampton, seconded by Ald, Jones to open the floor to Otis Gilmore Voice Vote: 4 Ayes/0 Nays

Was able to get some relief on the health benefits from United Healthcare. Was 12.99% increase and dropped to 5.8% increase. Still in discussion with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Has an initial rate without the claims history included. If it's better when it comes back and may be able to make a change August 1.

CLOSE FLOOR

Motion by Ald. Hampton, seconded by Ald. Jones to close the floor to Otis Gilmore

Voice Vote: 4 Ayes/0 Nays

BENEFITS

Motion by Ald. Barron, seconded by Ald. Hampton to accept the recommendation of the insurance renewal group to accept 5.8% increase with United Healthcare. Roll Call: 4 Ayes/0 Nays

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Ald. Hampton, seconded by Ald. Barron, to adjourn at 6:20 p.m. Voice Vote: 4 Ayes/0 Nays)
