Country Club Hills City Council met Sept. 9.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

1. A regular meeting of the City Council, City of Country Club Hills, County of Cook, State of Illinois, was held in the City Hall, 4200 w. 183rd Street at 7:03pm The meeting was called to order by the Honorable James W. Ford, Mayor.

A. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all those in attendance.

2. THOSE ON ROLL ALL ANSWERING PRESENT WERE:

Alderman Lockett, Davis, Glispie, Evans, Spivey and Mayor Ford

Also present were: City Clerk, Patricia D. Hutson, City Treasurer Deborah McIlvain, Hon. Judge Michael Stuttley served as parliamentarian and Attorney Tiffany Nelson-Jaworski.

3. Invocation was presented by Rev. Dr. Peter Dorn of St. John’s Lutheran Church and School

4. Journal of Proceedings;

A. Approval of Minutes –

1. Regular City Council Meeting - August 26, 2019

Alderman Lockett moved for Council approval of the minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 26, 2019.

Second – Alderwoman Evans

Motion carried via voice vote

5. Communications and Reports by the Mayor:

A. Mayor Ford presented an Ordinance Amendment regarding the Current Existing Cal Sag Enterprise Zone and Intergovernmental Agreement.

Alderman Lockett moved for Council approval of Ordinance Amendment OA.06.19.

Second- Alderman Glispie.

Discussion - Alderman Davis inquired as to changes regarding the parcels and Mayor Ford confirmed there were changes made by Homewood.

6. City Clerk/Collector’s Report

City Clerk, Patricia D. Hutson shared City Hall will open at 12noon Thursday September 12th as the city hall staff will participate in an Active Shooter Training Event, Open house dates for SD#160 of 9/12/19 for Meadowview and 9/19/19 for Sykuta, State Rep. Debbie Meyers-Martin’s Women’s Health & Resource Fair and Fall Branch Pick-up Dates of 10/12-South and 10/19-North of 183rd St and September 21st is the annual Multicultural Festival/Resident’s Day,.

A. Approval of Vouchers –

Alderman Lockett moved for Council approval of September 9th vouchers in the amount of $407,660.89 payments will be disbursed when funds are available.

Alderman Spivey congratulated Sweetz Bar and Grill on their recent grand opening.

8. Public Portion of Meeting

Alderman Lockett moved that the floor be opened to the public.

Motion Carried Via Voice Vote

The following individuals addressed the Council:

• Leora Bell, Country Club Hills – Ms. Bell shared her objection to the tax extension voted on at the 8.26.29 Regular Council meeting.

• Clifton Graham, Country Club Hills – Mr. Graham shared information on an upcoming property tax relief task force announced by Gov. Pritzker. He noted he will be working with State Rep. Debbie Meyers-Martin and Rep. Flowers on this meeting scheduled 9.25.19

Alderman Lockett moved that the floor be closed to the public.

9. Aldermanic Reports

Alderman Spivey – Shared he is a member of the 100 Black Men of Chicago and if anyone is looking to join to please contact him. He has rescheduled his kids golf clinic and he will take Southwood students to the Chicago Football Classic Saturday 9.14.19.

Alderwoman Evans – No Report

Alderman Glispie – reminded residents keep their property and the city clean that a clean city is a safe city.

Alderman Lockett – shared information that if TIF and businesses that if the city can lose out if we do not participate. Also, he shared to Mr. Graham he doesn’t believe the taxes will be reduced. Ald. Lockett shared information on the Homecoming for the CCHills Cougars 9.15.19 and the Hillcrest 5K Oct 5th.

Alderman Davis – shared information to senior that there is a $2.00 discount for ages 55+ on their refuse with I.D. to the water department.

Mayor Ford - Shared the Rich Township property tax appeal window will open 9.13.19 and will close 10.11.19. The Housing Commission will host a property tax appeal event Oct 3rd at the Theater Pavillion at 6:30pm.
