Homewood Disposal Services is requesting any households that have been infected with COVID-19 not recycle, but instead bag the items and place them in the trash.

The disposal service employs many hands-on sorters at the recycling processing center and has asked households infected with the coronavirus not to recycle materials to help keep the company's workers safe, according to Patch.

To ensure the safety of its workers, the company is also asking that any COVID-19 personal protective gear or cleaning supplies be bagged and placed in the trash as well, according to Patch. This will help make sure Homewood Disposal's employees aren't exposed to the virus.

"As of today, we have not experienced any significant shortage of drivers or recycling center employees," the company said on Homer Glen's website. "If we reach a severe worker shortage, certain measures may have to be taken in order to remove all waste from residences."
