Village of Richton Park issued the following announcement on May 7.
There’s a new Amazon.com Facility coming to the #RichtonPark / #UniversityPark area, including more than 800 new jobs!
Amazon is beginning construction on a massive 1.2 million sq.ft. warehousing and distribution hub in the University Park industrial park west of Cicero, east of I-57. The warehouse will occupy the SW corner of Steger Road and Central Avenue. Amazon is investing $150 million in this project and are looking to hire hundreds of new employees to manage and operate the regional distribution hub. Amazon already has a fulfillment center just off I-57 at Monee Manhattan Road in Monee.
Recently, Amazon has been adding a series of smaller warehouses near densely populated Suburb areas and neighborhoods so they will have the ability to deliver orders as quickly as an hour or two in some areas. As a village we welcome any business that brings resources and opportunities to our residents and community as a whole.
As anticipated, traffic will be congested from time to time. We ask again that residents and community please bare with us as these new construction processes occur. Construction work zones are required to execute the project. Ample warning and relevant information will be visibly posted in advance of, and throughout work zones. Please be alert and pay attention to these signs so that you can travel safely.
