Riverdale Fire District responded to 404 calls in 2018 - 4.7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Riverdale included 189 fires - 153 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and 23 other fires.

In all, the department saw $741,051 in fire loss - or about $3,921 per fire.

The department also received 215 false calls, including 25 malicious calls and 190 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.

The Riverdale Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 17 active employees and 14 retired or inactive employees, was $19,898 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $144 for every fire in 2017.
