Chicago Ridge FD responds to 112 fires in 2018

Chicago Ridge Fire Department responded to 497 calls in 2018 - 17.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Chicago Ridge included 112 fires - 78 structure fires, 15 vehicle fires and 19 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $383,275 in fire loss - or about $3,422 per fire.

The department also received 382 false calls, including 20 malicious calls and 362 other false calls.

The Chicago Ridge Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 14 active employees and 15 retired or inactive employees, was $517,419 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $7,392 for every fire in 2017.
