GOP candidate Eric Wallace lost his bid for District 40 Senate seat to Democratic incumbent Patrick Joyce.
Wallace conceded in a post on his Facebook page.
“I want to thank everyone who contributed to our campaign, voted, and prayed for us,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, we came up short.”
Wallace went on to thank several people by name including his family and campaign team.
“I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Thank you to my campaign consultants Dean Casper, Jim Dodge, and Jennifer Deny. And lastly, my wife Jennifer, who endured, with me, the many trials of running for office. Thank you for allowing me to pursue my passion. God bless you all!” he wrote.
