Village of South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees met Oct. 5.

Regular meeting was held at the Village Hall, 3317 Chicago Road, South Chicago Heights, Illinois. Mayor Terry Matthews called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance followed. Mayor Matthews requested Village Clerk Linan to call roll. The following were present:

APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES: Trustee Stanton motioned to approve the Regular Board of Trustee meeting minutes of September 21, 2020, seconded by Trustee Fiorenzo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

APPROVAL OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING MINUTES: Trustee Fiorenzo motioned to approve the Committee of the Whole meeting minutes of September 21, 2020, seconded by Trustee Stanton. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

TRUSTEE/COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Trustee Marrufo announced that the second annual shredding event will take place on October 10th at the Senior Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for South Chicago Heights residents only.
Administrator Gomez announced that the Village ordered IPADs for the Board members and it was funded under the Cook County Covid-19 relief fund. Administrator Gomez stated that the tentative date for electronic packets would be October 19th and if anyone needs help setting up their IPAD they are to contact Clerk Linan.
Asst. Fire Chief Ziegle stated that there were 123 calls for fire service in September and that 84 calls were for EMS service and 39 for fire service.
Police Chief Joyce stated that there were 705 calls for police service in the month of September. Chief Joyce stated that in response to a Freedom of information request under the Crime Free Housing Program lease addendum since 5/1/20 generated 289 notices to landlords. Chief Joyce stated that the dispatch cost based upon the 2020 budget is $24.43 per call for police service and that cost for rental properties equates to $7,062.88 over the last 5 months. Chief Joyce stated that the South Chicago Heights Police Department was awarded $18,982.28 in IDOT grants.
Public Works Director Martin stated that his department has cut down 67 trees and trimmed 69 trees and his department would be finishing up the stump grinding and clean up around town.

APPROVAL - HALLOWEEN TRICK-OR-TREAT: Mayor Matthews explained that he inquired with other surrounding communities and felt that it was going to be difficult to stop trick-or-treating and asked the Board for their opinion. Discussion ensued amongst the Board regarding trick-or-treating. Mayor and the Board agreed to allow it to proceed. Trustee Marrufo motioned to set Halloween trick-or-treat hours from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 31, 2020, seconded, by Trustee Stanton. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

Mayor Matthews read all three proposals and recommended the lowest proposal from Desiderio Landscaping at $18,175.00. Trustee Stanton motioned to approve the proposal for Desiderio Landscaping seconded, by Trustee Fazzini. There being no

A MOTION TO AWARD ROOF REPAIR PROPOSAL TO TOTAL ROOFING & CONSTRUCTION SERVICES INC. AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF PROPOSAL IN RELATION THERETO: Mayor Matthews asked that this item be tabled because the company has no apprenticeship program. Trustee Marrufo motioned to table this item seconded, by Trustee Stanton. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:
