City of Hometown City Council Met Feb. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by Mayor Kevin Casey at 7:00 P.M.

Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Banasiak.

Roll Call: Roll call indicated that the following were present: Aldermen Smith, Zak, Banasiak, Finnegan, Barnhouse, Kurysz, Beyer, Walsh and Reynolds.

Absent: Alderman Grochowski

Also present: Elizabeth Attard, City Attorney

Press: Kelly White, Hometown Hi-Lites.

Journal February 9, 2021 

Moved by Alderman Kurysz, seconded by Alderman Finnegan to approve as published the Journal of February 9, 2021 regular City Council Meeting.

Roll call, the vote was:

AYES: (9) Aldermen Banasiak, Zak, Kurysz, Beyer, Walsh, Smith, Finnegan, Barnhouse and Reynolds. 

NAYS: (0)

ABSENT: (1) Alderman Grochowski

Office of the Mayor

Mayor Casey commended the Public Works Department for the excellent job they have done on the snow removal. Mayor Casey stated they have a small crew and kept up with what needed to get done. Mayor Casey stated things are going well.

Office of the City Clerk:

City Clerk Mary Jo C. Hacker had no report.

Office of the Treasurer:

City Treasurer Salvatore Roti had no report.

City Attorney: Elizabeth Attard had no report.

Police: Louis Dominguez, Chief was not present.

Public Works: Mark Trlak, Director was not present.

Building: James Forbes, Commissioner was not present.

Public Health & Safety: Director Bonnie Gesiakowski had no report.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Accounts Payable and Payroll February 23, 2021

Moved by Alderman Christopher Beyer seconded by Alderman Reynolds to approve for payment the accounts payable vouchers in the amount of $21,006.37 and payroll vouchers in the amount of $61,980.97 for a total expenditure of $82,987.34.

Roll call, the vote was:

AYES: (9) Aldermen Smith, Zak, Kurysz, Beyer, Banasiak, Walsh, Finnegan, Barnhouse and Reynolds.

Library: Alderman Grochowski, Liaison was absent.

Legislation: Alderman Christopher Beyer had no report. Treasurer Roti discussed some pending legislation that would affect municipalities. One of the bills was just signed by the Governor mandates our police officers wear body cameras by the year of 2025. Mayor Casey stated Chief Dominguez has been pricing the cameras and had found they are not very expensive but the software needed for them is extremely expensive.

Fire Department: Alderman Rick Banasiak, Liaison had no report.

Personnel Review: Mayor Kevin Casey, Chairman had no report.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, RESOLUTIONS, ORDERS AND ORDINANCES BY ALDERMEN

SPECIAL EVENTS: Alderman Grochowski was absent.

HEALTH, WELFARE & COMMUNITY EVENTS: Alderman Grochowski was absent.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Alderman Banasiak asked if we had any updates on the census numbers. Neither Mayor Casey or Clerk Hacker had updates.

NEW BUSINESS: Mayor Casey is meeting with IDOT this week regarding the egress and ingress for the proposed new business, a Car Wash at the corner of SW Highway and Pulaski.

CITIZEN’S HEARING: NONE

ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Alderman Beyer Seconded by Alderman Walsh to adjourn the regular meeting of the Hometown City Council.

MOTION STATED CARRIED

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm
