 Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 issued the following announcement on Aug. 4

Despite the challenges of a second school year disrupted by the pandemic, Oak Lawn Community High School Advanced Placement students continued to excel. During 2021 AP testing, 24 Oak Lawn Community High School students scored 33 perfect scores on AP tests.

OLCHS students earned additional recognition for high scores on multiple tests, known as AP Scholars. Nine students were named AP Scholars with Distinction, which is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Yusra M. Abdelrahman, Laura K. Blachowicz, Margaret K. Hennessy, Emma S. McGrath, Alyssa J. Mora, Michael C. Mueller, Sofia Serna, Mateusz Szlembarski, and James A. Walsh.

Eleven additional students earned AP Scholar with Honor awards, signifying that they received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Finally, 40 students were named AP Scholars, which is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

“We are so proud of the collective effort of both our AP students and their teachers. AP classes offer our students tremendous opportunities to become college and career ready,” said Assistant Principal Dr. Lauren May.

Oak Lawn Community High School offers more than 20 different AP level courses which allow students a collegiate-level experience as well the opportunity to earn college credit. In all, 362 students took 756 AP exams last Spring.
