City of Palos Heights License, Permits & Franchise Committee Met June 8.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Lewandowski called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. In attendance were Alderman Basso, Alderman McGrogan (electronic), Alderman McGovern, Building Commissioner Chris Kransberger, and Recording Secretary Margaret Carey. Also in attendance were residents: Mr. Schultz, Mr. Mazur, Mr. and Mrs. Regan, Mr. & Mrs. Murphy, Mr. Trevillian.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Alderman McGrogan made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2021 meeting, seconded by Alderman Basso. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
PERMIT & CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT
Chairman Lewandowski referred to the permit report in the agenda packet. For the permit period from May 7, 2021 – June 2, 2021, the City has collected $17,788.78, with 118 permits issued. There were 23 code enforcement cases and 27 inspections for that same period.
BUSINESS LICENSE REPORT
For the 2021 business licenses, $67,466.75 has been invoiced and $62,408.50 has been collected thus far.
VEHICLE STICKER REPORT
For the period May 17, 2021 – June 3, 2021 approximately 2,400 stickers were sold and $50,105.00 was collected.
DRIVEWAY REQUEST – 12126 Flambeau (Cortes)
Director Kransberger said the resident has changed their plans and will instead comply with code requirements. No further action is needed.
DRIVEWAY REQUEST – 12204 S. Nagle (Schultz)
Mr. Schultz explained he is trying to add to his driveway to accommodate his 3 car garage. The Committee discussed.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the Driveway request for 12204 S. Nagle, seconded by Alderman McGovern. On a roll call vote:
VOTE: 4
YES: 3 – Lewandowski, McGovern, McGrogan
No: 1 - Basso
The motion passed.
DRIVEWAY REQUEST – 13032 S. 71st Avenue (Mazur)
Mr. Mazur explained his request to add a paver walkway attached to his driveway. The Committee discussed.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the Driveway request for 13032 S. 71st Avenue, seconded by Alderman McGovern. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
DRIVEWAY REQUEST – 108 Augusta Drive (Regan)
Mr. and Mrs. Regan explained they are trying to add to his driveway to accommodate a 3 car garage. The Regans already secured approval from Westgate Valley HOA. The Committee discussed.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the Driveway request for 108 Augusta Drive, seconded by Alderman McGovern. On a roll call vote:

The motion passed.
PERMANENT SIGN REQUEST – 11849 Southwest Highway (Seva Brands)
Commissioner Kransberger explained the request. The office space is attached to the new Dunkin’ building. Seva Brands is the corporate headquarters for Dunkin’. The only part of the sign not in code is the “S”. It is 48”, where the code only allows 24”. The committee discussed and decided to allow the “S” to exceed code by no more than 6”.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the Permanent Sign request from Seva Brands – not to exceed 6” over code, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. AGENDA
TEMPORARY TENT APPROVAL FOR SPECIAL EVENT – ST. SPYRIDON CHURCH
Commissioner Kransberger explained the request for the annual event on July 10, 2021.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the temporary tent permit for the St. Spyridon special event on July 10, 2021, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
TEMPORARY SIGN APPROVAL FOR SPECIAL EVENT – ST. SPYRIDON CHURCH
Commissioner Kransberger explained the request for the annual event on July 10, 2021.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the temporary tent permit for the St. Spyridon special event on July 10, 2021, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
Alderman McGovern and Basso inquired about Pitbulls. What can we do about them? A Pitbull got loose last year and killed a dog at Community Park. Can we add to the dangerous animal code? Commissioner Kransberger will contact Tom Brown to discuss.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Residents, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy were present to express concerns over code enforcement violations and warnings that they have received. The Committee discussed their concerns. Alderman Lewandowski said he will be the point person for all code enforcement cases for the Murphys.
Resident Jack Trevillian wanted to compliment Commissioner Kransberger for his work as Building Commissioner. His sentiments were echoed by Committee members.

There being no further business, Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. All in favor.
