City of Palos Hills City Council met Dec. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1) CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Bennett called the City Council Meeting to order at 7:00p.m.

2) PLEDGE TO THE FLAG: Mayor Bennett led everyone in the Pledge to the Flag.

3) ROLL CALL: Upon roll call the following Aldermen responded:

PRESENT: Price, Brachman, Donahue, O’Connell, Kleefisch, Pasek, Abed, Nowak

ABSENT: Lebarre, Stratton

4) QUORUM: Mayor Bennett declared a quorum was present.

5) READING OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:

Ald. Kleefisch MOVED to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes dated, December 2, 2021 as presented. SECONDED by Ald. Nowak. Upon roll call the following Ald. voted:

AYE: Brachman, Donahue, O’Connell, Kleefisch, Pasek, Abed, Nowak, Price

NAY: None

ABSENT: Lebarre, Stratton MOTION CARRIED

6) CITIZENS PETITION: None this evening.

7) CITIZENS HEARING:

Mayor Bennett, the meeting is open to the public for any comments or questions.

There were no comments or questions from the public; the public portion of the meeting was closed.

8) REPORTS & COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR AND OTHER CITY OFFICIALS:

A. CITY CLERK: No report this evening.

B. CITY ATTORNEY: City Attorney Pappas provided an update on the closings of two of the MWRD buyout properties stating both are taking place tomorrow at 10:00am and at 11:00am for 7817 W. 102nd Street and 7941 W. 100th Place. There is a delay for approximately 30days for 7905 W. 100th Place as the sellers weren’t able to close.

C. MAYOR: No report this evening.

9) PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, RESOLUTIONS, AND ORDINANCES BY ALDERMEN:

A. BUILDING & LICENSING:

Ald. Abed had no report this evening.

B. CITY ADMINISTRATION:

In the absence of Ald. Stratton there was no report this evening.

C. COMMUNITY RESOURCES:

Ald. Price provided a reminder that the Community Resource and Recreation department is collecting items such as gloves, hats, scarves for their mitten tree – they are also accepting items for your pets such as leashes and toys. These items will be collected through the month of December.

The Community Center will be closed December 24th, 25th, 27th, 31st and January 3rd for the holidays.

D. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:

Ald. O’Connell announced two new business licenses that were issued: Sarah Trucking at 7840 W. 103rd Street Unit 1 is operating as an administration office and dispatch center they are open 8am 10pm 7 days a week. The other is Worth Insurance Agency at 8150 W. 111th Street Unit 1 and they are open 9am-6pm Monday-Friday and 9am-2pm on Saturdays.

E. FINANCE:

Ald. Brachman MOVED to authorize the expenditure of a Vendor Warrant dated, December 16, 2021 in the amount of $1,623,898.36. SECONDED by Ald. Pasek. Upon roll call the following Ald. voted:

AYE: Donahue, O’Connell, Kleefisch, Pasek, Abed, Nowak, Price, Brachman

NAY: None

ABSENT: Lebarre, Stratton MOTION CARRIED

F. LEGISLATION & ORDINANCES:

Ald. Donahue had no report this evening.

G. PARKS:

Ald. Nowak announced that Santa through Palos Hills will take place on Sunday, December 19th from 3-4:30pm. For more information please visit paloshillsweb.org

GOLF:

Ald. Pasek reported that the weather has helped the Golf course have very good month thus far. Superintendent Frazier has been working diligently on cutting back trees by tee boxes in order to allow the sun through to dry everything out. The Golf course will be closed once the bathroom renovation begins, which will take approximately 2-3 weeks.

H. PLANNING & ZONING:

Ald. Nowak MOVED for consideration of an Ordinance Rezoning Property Commonly Known As 8300 West 111th Street, Palos Hills, Illinois, From R-3 To R-5. SECONDED by Ald. Pasek. Upon roll call the following Ald. voted:

AYE: Donahue, O’Connell, Kleefisch, Pasek, Abed, Nowak, Price, Brachman

NAY: None

ABSENT: Stratton, Lebarre MOTION CARRIED

City Clerk Mulderink assigned number 2021-11 to that proposed Ordinance.

Ald. Abed MOVED to waive the reading of proposed Ordinance 2021-11. SECONDED by Ald. Donahue. Upon roll call the following Ald. voted:

AYE: O’Connell, Kleefisch, Pasek, Abed, Nowak, Price, Brachman, Donahue

NAY: None

ABSENT: Stratton, Lebarre MOTION CARRIED

Ald. Nowak MOVED for PASSAGE of Ordinance 2021-11, An Ordinance Rezoning Property Commonly Known As 8300 West 111th Street, Palos Hills, Illinois, From R-3 To R-5. SECONDED by Ald. Kleefisch. Upon roll call the following Ald. voted:

AYE: Kleefisch, Pasek, Abed, Nowak, Price, Brachman, Donahue, O’Connell

NAY: None

ABSENT: Stratton, Lebarre MOTION CARRIED

I. PUBLIC SAFETY:

Ald. Kleefisch read the Palos Hills Police Department Activity Report for November 2021 and noted that we issued 154 traffic tickets, 133 parking tickets, there were 21 misdemeanor complaints and 1 felony complaint, no criminal homicides, 1 robbery, 1 aggravated assault and battery, 3 burglaries, 4 thefts, 1 motor vehicle theft, no arsons, and the CID Division handled a total of 41 cases.

Ald. Kleefisch reported that we received a check from Iris Martinez, Clerk of the Circuit Court, in the amount of $233.33.

J. PUBLIC WORKS/SEWER & WATER:

Ald. Brachman had no report this evening.

10) REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES: None this evening.

11) UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None this evening.

12) MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: None this evening.

13) ADJORNMENT:

No further business, Mayor Bennett entertained a motion to adjourn. SO MOVED by Ald. Kleefisch. SECONDED by Ald. Pasek. By voice vote, all voted AYE.

The Meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
