BUSY DAY AT THE OCS TODAY!
"I am supposed to talk to you about snow removal today, but I'd rather be talking about butterflies. . ."
So began Gavin Yeaman, Assistant Director of Evergreen Park Public Works, who was guest speaker at today's Senior Council Luncheon at the Community Center. Sadly, Gavin is expecting to get back to work with snow issues this afternoon. Mr. Yeaman, and the swedish meatball lunch, was greeted warmly by the crowd who came out to dine, in spite of the threat of a storm.
The next luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, March 17, and is appropriately St. Patrick's-themed, and you can smell the corned beef already. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at the Community Center.
The luncheon was one of the many things going on during a very busy day, which included exercise classes, AARP Tax Preparation, Covid Vaccinations, plus two successful Drum Circles on Wednesday.
The OCS Office is located in the Community Center,
3450 W. 97th Street.
(708) 422-8776. They also have a Facebook page, which is EP Office of Citizen Services
Plus, one of the Community Center employees is causing quite a stir by displaying, on a rotating basis, a collection of vintage typewriters. And using them, too!
HISTORICAL COMMISSION
The local history group is looking forward to the re-opening of its display room in the Community Center on a more consistent basis.
However, if you are interested in visiting the museum and talking history, the group is always happy to open up for a special visit with you.
