City of Hickory Hills City Council met April 28.

CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Clerk D’Lorah Catizone on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.

Clerk Catizone announced the Mayor will be absent this evening.

Alderman Fonte moved to appoint Alderman Zimmerman as Mayor Pro Tem. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight Zimmerman aye. So approved.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Alderman Waight moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman McHugh second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight Zimmerman aye. So approved.

No one spoke during this portion of the meeting.

CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC

Alderman Waight moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Purtill second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS

Alderman Waight moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of April 14, 2022, as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight aye. Aldermen Zimmerman pass. So approved.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

MAYOR

Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman presented a request from St. Patricia Church for a temporary liquor license to hold their annual Wine Tasting Event on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Alderman Stachnik moved to grant a temporary liquor license to St. Patricia Church on Saturday, May 14th. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

CITY ATTORNEY

ORD. 22-06 – Attorney Cainkar presented Ordinance #22-06, an ordinance approving the Connor’s first resubdivision of 8562 & 8566 S. 83rd Avenue. This Finding of Fact was approved at the last Council meeting. Alderman Stachnik moved to approve Ordinance #22-06. Alderman McHugh second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

ORD. 22-07 – Attorney Cainkar presented Ordinance # 22-07, an ordinance approving the Connor’s second resubdivision of 8570 & 8574 S. 83rd Avenue. This Finding of Fact was approved at the last Council meeting. Alderman Purtill moved to approve Ordinance #22-07. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

ORD 22-08 – Attorney Cainkar presented Ordinance #22-08, an ordinance providing for the issue of not to exceed $16,000,000 taxable general obligation bonds (alternate revenue source), Series 2022, of the City of Hickory Hills, Cook County, Illinois, for the purpose of funding all or a portion of the unfunded Police Pension Fund Liability of said City; Funding a Pension Budget Stabilization Fund; and providing for the Levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest on said bonds. Attorney Cainkar noted this bond issue has been thoroughly discussed at prior Council meetings. No other questions or objections. Alderman McHugh moved to approve Ordinance #22-08. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Waight, Zimmerman aye. Alderman Stachnik nay. So approved.

COMMUNICATIONS

BILLS PAYABLE

Alderman Kman moved to approve the bills payable for the second half of April 2022 in the amount of $305,632.04. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Ms. Lehr reported Public Works is seeking approval to hire a replacement administrative assistant for an open position. She noted they took their time narrowing the 200 plus resumes down to a short list and are now ready to offer the position to the best fit candidate. No objections were noted.

Purtill/Laws & Ordinances

Alderman Purtill presented one business license application for Veka Freight located at 7667 W. 95th Street. This is a trucking dispatch office (no truck parking allowed). No objections were noted.
