There have been 619,613 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cook County as of May 31, with 7,019 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Cook County (619,613 cases) and Chicago (615,606 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Cook County's death toll from the virus stands at 7,019, while Chicago recorded 7,403 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 0, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 744,151 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,526,708 were male and 1,728,581 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 18,484, while female deaths stood at 15,330.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 21,281 whites, 6,225 African-Americans, 4,684 Hispanics, 1,042 Asians, and 582 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
