There have been 625,985 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cook County as of June 6, with 7,034 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Cook County (625,985 cases) and Chicago (621,906 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Cook County's death toll from the virus stands at 7,034, while Chicago recorded 7,408 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 0, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 749,355 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,539,515 were male and 1,745,720 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 18,514, while female deaths stood at 15,351.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 21,323 whites, 6,229 African-Americans, 4,687 Hispanics, 1,042 Asians, and 584 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
