City of Hickory Hills City Council met July 28.

CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Howley at 7:33 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Howley led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Howley asked for a moment of silence for Ken Fonte, Chairman of the Fire & Police Commission who passed away on Sunday July 24, 2022.

Alderman Waight moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, aye. So approved.
Alderman Purtill introduced Peter Torres to the council. Peter is making a monetary donation to the Street Fair, as lead sponsor for the bands.
Mike & Rose Walsh
8610 W. 92nd Street
Inquiring on the work that still needs to be completed on the house located at 8620 W. 92nd Street.
The seed that they put down for grass has all washed away, and everything is draining into their yard again. They also asked if a bond had to be submitted at time of permits, and if so, can that bond be used for completion? Building Commissioner John Moirano explained that he is in touch with the owner and is trying to work on a plan. Rose Walsh also explained that the owner has expressed that he is looking to buy other property in Hickory Hills, because he can make good money flipping and selling the property. She would like this noted what has happened at this property.

JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman McHugh moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of July 14, 2022, as printed subject to deletions or corrections. There is one correction on page 4 of 4, under Health & Environmental Control. Please change “review are contract renewal” to “review our contract renewal”. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, McHugh, Purtill, Waight, aye. Alderman Kman and Stachnik pass. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Mayor Howley presented a quote for new City Entryway signs from Pravin-Clauss Sign Company. The city has worked with them before and is seeking approval for 3 new signs. Alderman McHugh moved to approve the new Entry way signs. Alderman Purtill second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, aye. So approved.
Mayor Howley reminded everyone about the Farmers Market on Friday here at City Hall from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.
CITY CLERK
Acting City Clerk presented a request from the Equestrian Ridge Townhome Association for a block party on September 17, 2022, from 1:00 – 7:00 pm.
They would also include the homes on 94th Street. The block party will be located along 94th Street and Saratoga Court.
There were not objections. So approved.
CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Vodicka presented the Treasurer’s Report dated May 31, 2022. Alderman Kman moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report dated May 31, 2022. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, aye. So approved.
CITY ATTORNEY

CITY ENGINEER
Mr. Spolar presented Invoice #41126, estimate #1 from Lindahl Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $69,278.78. This is the work done on 2022 RBI resurfacing program. Alderman Ferrero moved to approve Invoice #41126 in the amount of $69,278.78 to Lindahl Brothers, Inc. Alderman Waight Second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, aye. So approved.
Mr. Spolar informed the council that the Quarry strike is over, and thing will be back on track soon.

Alderman Kman moved to approve the bills payable for the second half of July 2022 in the amount of $550,739.49. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Kman, McHugh, Purtill, Stachnik, Waight, aye. So approved.

Zimmerman/Public Works
Public Works Director Sue Lehr said that on August 17th from 5-7pm, at City Hall a second Community Open House will be held for the Cit’s Comprehensive Plan. There will be interactive engagement stations to receive community input on the future of the City.
McHugh/Bldg./Facilities
Things are going well at Parkview Apartments just making a few adjustments. Alderman McHugh inquired about the grant that has been applied for. Director Lehr said that the Mayor just recently signed the paperwork, and it is in the review process.
Purtill/Laws & Ordinances

Fonte/Health & Environmental Control
Alderman Fonte was absent. No report was submitted.
Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory
Street Fair Update: 19 Crafters, 8 Food, 6 Businesses and 19 Car Show Applicants. Alderman Ferrero and Purtill have been attending car shows and passing out flyers and applications. Alderman Ferrero asked all of the alderman to ask the businesses in their wards for donations/prizes for bingo. They have already received prize donations from FairPlay, Sals, Highlander Grill. The Sock said they will provide donations also. It was asked if there is a way to “pay on-line” for the application fees? Mayor Howley said he will check into this.
Alderman McHugh said that there will be 3 coolers that they are renting for the beer, and that the Community Center will be the staging area for beer, pop and water.
Bingo will be from 10 am to 12 pm, and bands from 12 pm to 7:00 pm.
Waight/Chamber Business Development
National Night Out will take place on Tuesday August 2nd at 7:00 pm. The Neverly Brothers will be the band and tickets are $3.00.
