PRS AND BROKEN RECORDS AT GIL DODDS INVITE

What a day for the Cyclones. Every Cyclone ran a personal best and freshman David Olmos broke the school record at the Gil Dodds Invitational at Wheaton College at St. James Farm in Warrenville.

Every week these running Cyclones continue to get faster and stronger. This latest race was clear indication as they finished 10th out of 20 colleges and were the only community college in the mix. Olmos continues to make waves and finished 6th out of 243 runners in 25:48, breaking the college 8K record of 25:53 set by Jordi Rangel in 2017. His first mile was a 5:10, and he kept almost even splits all the way, only 30 seconds out of first place.

Brandon Armendarez ran nearly a minute faster than this time last year on the same course, crossing the line in 51st place in 27:02. Jack Kajmowicz finished in 127th in 29:02; Gavin Hampton ran into 145th in 29:23; Ryan O'Connor earned a PR by nearly a minute, finishing in 154th in 29:38; and Thomas Diaz made his season debut in 224th place in 33:50.

"The men continue to improve as a team week-by-week. Not only did they all run season PRs, but they also seemed more united before and after the race. Brandon continues to improve. Jack and Gavin continue to push each other, and that will be crucial as we head into the championship part of our season. Ryan had an incredible race. He's our No. 5 runner and will play a big role in the big races, so it's great to see him getting faster and closing the gap on the others. Tom came back from injury, and I know the team is excited to add him to the mix," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas. "We don't race this weekend but head to our toughest course on Oct. 1, so I'm looking forward to see how they handle it."
