The Tinley Park Village Board of Trustees put the spotlight on three different organizations in the village during its Nov. 15 meeting.

Tinley Park Police Sgt. Chris Butler, president of Tinley Wish, spoke about the non-profit that has helped families during the holidays for nearly three decades. He told the board the organization has a few rules.

“The rules are: (donation recipients) have to live in Tinley Park and we can’t give you cash,” he said during the session. “So we’ll help with a lot of things, a lot of bills, gifts, just about anything you can think of. We’ve bought cars, we’ve paid mortgages, so many medical bills I couldn’t even begin to think about.”

The board learned during the session that the non-profit was organized 27 years ago by two patrolmen with the department, and continues to help families during the holidays. Butler said that plans are in place to help three families this year, though public deliveries – long a tradition – may be curtailed since some of the families have medical issues that prevent exposure to others.

The board also recognized Patricia Zemar, owner of Tinley Massage Therapy, a business focusing on relieving stress, promoting athletic recovery, and supporting immune health. Zemar has more than 20 years of experience in the business and is pleased to operate her own business in the village.

The trustees also recognized Family Hyundai, though no representatives were able to attend the session.
