The Village of Midlothian is seeking input on how to spend the remaining $1,200 budgeted for community events this fiscal year.
At the Nov. 16 board meeting, Midlothian Village Board Trustee Kathleen Johnson explained that the Events Committee has discussed a variety of options including a summer car and craft show, a summer bean bag tournament, a Halloween decorating contest featuring small and large displays, and a spring Midlothian 5K. The committee is allocated $1,500 for events per year.
“We’re open for other ideas,” Johnson said in the meeting. “So please email me, call me, let me know your ideas. These are events for the village, for the residents, for people in the community. We have nothing in stone but we hope to have four to six events throughout the year.”
She also provided an accounting of the revenue and expenses for Oktoberfest.
Johnson additionally announced that the committee has established three meeting times through May of next year because there was a lot of public interest in attending them. The meetings are set for 5:30 p.m. on each second Tuesday of January, March and May. Johnson also noted that the committee would like residents to help run and organize some events.
