City of Oak Forest City Council met Oct. 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Kuspa called the City Council meeting to order at 7 : 30 p. m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Roll Call as follows:

3. ANNOUNCEMENTS

The City trick or treat hours are from 3 to 7 p. m. on Monday, October 31St. We wish you and your little ones a safe and happy Halloween. Please visit our website for some safety tips before heading out to celebrate.

Early voting for electoral election is taking place now through November 7that City Hall. For a list of times please visit the City' s website at oak- forest. org. City Hall is not a polling place on election day. To vote on election day, find your polling place at the Cook County Clerk' s website.

Now through Christmas, drop nonperishable food items and travel size toiletries in the Building Department to benefit Redeemer' s Little Free Pantry. Call Melissa with any questions ( 708) 444- 4819.

Join the City of Oak Forest for Jolly Jamboree on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 a. m. to noon at City Hall. The new holiday event replaces the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony and includes pictures with Santa, visits with the frozen princesses, ice sculptors demonstrations, cookie decorating, dj , holiday sing along and face painting. Please come and visit us .

Mayor Kuspa invited Mark Johnson, from Bremen High School District 228, to speak regarding upcoming events and new opportunities the school district is working on.

Mark Johnson reported that they partnered with the Jewel Osco to host acommunity wellness clinic at Oak Forest High School on October 7th If a child wants to become a welder or brick layer, we have a career layout for them to be able to go through all steps necessary for that career and endorsement. We partner with South Suburban College. A lot of children are not going to college. We are trying to transition to what they want and putting together careers . Welding is a big one that we just put in at the high school . Mr. Johnson left some books to review which shows starting salaries and growth. Mayor Kuspa requested extras to have at City Hall .

Mayor Kuspa acknowledged the security guard who does the crossing for kids coming to school at the entrance to the high school on Central . One suggestion Mayor Kuspa had was to wear a safety vest to identify him and what he is doing.

Mark Johnson handed out business cards for Yasmeen Sheikah, Public Relations Specialist. She deals with everything to do with media.

Alderman Emmett thanked Mark Johnson for the Superintendent who has been very good to other taxing bodies .

Alderman McCarthy informed Mark Johnson that he is very happy with the welding program.

4. MOTION TO ESTABLISH CONSENT AGENDA

Alderman Emmett made the motion to establish consent agenda. Alderman Danihel seconded.

6. ADMINISTRATION

A. Appointment of Nicole Therese Tormey to the position of City of Oak Forest Deputy Clerk.

Alderman Emmett made the motion to approve.

Alderman McCarthy seconded.

Jack Janozik reported they had opportunity to interview this individual and she stuck out to Tim and HR. He subsequently interviewed her. She seems like she is a great fit with a great background.

7. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

A. Approval of purchase of two Dell servers at the Oak Forest Police Department to serve the Computer Aided Dispatch ( CAD) and mobile environment in the budgeted amount of $33, 004 . 34 .

Alderman Danihel made the motion to approve.

Alderman Hortsman seconded.

Aaron Beatty advised the project is for the Police Department' s dispatch and mobile dispatch environment. IT Director Tom Rieman is building a new storage area network which is 15 virtual servers housed on two physical servers. This money was approved by the 911 Board for this project so we are seeking council approval to continue.

B. Approval of annual multi- factor authentication security application with RKON in the budgeted amount of $10, 692 .

Alderman Emmett made the motion to approve.

Alderman Selman seconded.

Aaron Beatty reported that the multi- factor authentication adds another layer of complexity in the network. However, changes in the worldwide web require security applications like Duo which is a multi factor application that allows for zero level of security. The security application confirms 100% that there is a human behind the log in.

Tim Kristin stated that the security feature is essential and the City would be uninsurable for IT liability.

14 . EXECUTIVE SESSION

The purpose is to discuss the purchase or lease of real property for use by the City of Oak Forest, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing, whether a particular parcel should be acquired, and to discuss the setting of a price for the sale or lease of real estate owned by the City of Oak Forest and Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular public body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the public body finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding must be recorded and entered into the minutes of a closed meeting.

Alderman Danihel made the motion to approve.
