GSU BEATS IU NORTHWEST 81-79 IN OVERTIME

Governors State University earned a hard-fought 81-79 overtime road victory over IU Northwest Wednesday night in CCAC Conference play.

GSU point guard Tai Walters-Whitaker hit a clutch three-pointer with 30 seconds remaining in OT to break a 76-76 tie and give the Jaguars (6-17,6-9 CCAC) a winning cushion in the final minute.

IU Northwest (11-12, 10-6) came back from seven points down in the final two minutes of regulation out-scoring the Jaguars 10-3 down the stretch to force overtime.

In overtime the Jaguars prevailed and GSU Head Coach Tony Bates lauded his team in the victory. "We fought through adversity and we worked hard, fought hard to win in overtime. The game had a lot of lead changes, and players stepped up.  We got the good effort, good team win for us, and now we get ready for Holy Cross." (Saturday)

Jalen Levy playing 34 minutes off the bench, led GSU in scoring with 18 points and had six rebounds and two assists in the win.

Four Jaguars scored in double figures, joining Levy in doubles was Walters-Whitaker 16, Adam Taylor 15 and Nick Mikash with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
