Join Multicultural Student Affairs for a variety of events in celebration of Black History Month! Free and open to all. Sponsored by the Celebrating Diversity Committee and Black Student Association.

Black Solidarity Day ReceptionWednesday, Feb. 1, 2 p.m. | Building MMoraine Valley students and staff are encouraged to wear all black clothing as a symbol of solidarity to kick off Black History Month. Light refreshments will be served.

 

Black Leadership ConnectionWednesday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m. | Building M, Moraine Room 1The program will give several small groups of students an opportunity to meet with individual school leadership members including ELT, Deans, Faculty and Administrators. The event is designed to give students of color an opportunity meet, interact, and connect with college leadership to explore future career endeavors. Participation is open to all students. Light refreshments will be served.

 

Black Resistance and Resilience: The African American ExperienceTuesday, Feb. 21, 10 to 11:30 a.m. | WebexThroughout history, African Americans have had to resist and persist systems that were designed to oppress them. This workshop will highlight some of this history, will discuss the traumatic impact of systemic racism and will highlight lessons from these historical practices of resistance and resilience that are still very much imperative into today’s world.  Discussion led by Shanya Gray. Black Student Association Coffee Pop-UpWednesday, Feb. 22, Noon to 1 p.m., Building U, Room U111A safe space for students to hear, learn and discuss different thought-provoking poems and stories of Black resistance and the current state of Black culture. Light refreshments will be served.
