TAI WALTERS-WHITAKER, NICK MIKASH EARN CCAC 2022-2023 POST-SEASON HONORS

The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference selected 2022-2023 post-season men's basketball honors and two GSU Jaguars Tai Walters-Whitaker and Nick Mikash earned special CCAC awards.

GSU Head Basketball Coach Tony Bates was pleased with his two players making all CCAC honors teams this season. Comments on Tai Walters-Whitaker, 2nd team all CCAC. "I'm very happy with Tai's performance all year. He was very consistent and he was our go to guy and made some big buckets for us. If it wasn't for Tai, we wouldn't have made the post-season playoffs this year. I'm proud of him and he will continue to grow and improve and hopefully a first teamer next year."

Walters-Whitaker led GSU in scoring with a 14.1 points/game average and also led the team in assists (4.7) and steals (2.0) and also averaged 4.0 rebounds per game. He had a career-high 12 assists at Roosevelt University and scored 28 points and hit a school record 16-16 FTs to win on the road at Trinity Christian.

Coach Bates comments on Nick Mikash, All Freshman team – "The ceiling is very high for Nick. Nick continues to grow and get stronger. He is going to be someone to reckon with the next year or two."

Mikash was tied for second on the team in scoring with senior Adam Taylor (10.9 points per game), and led GSU in rebounding (5.2) and had four, 20-point scoring games in 2022-2023 with a career-high 23 vs. St. Francis. He had a career-best 13 rebounds at IU-Northwest.
