GSU Men's & Women's Golf Open 2023 Spring Season Friday at Olivet Nazarene Invitational
GSU's 2023 Spring Men's and Women's golf season gets underway Friday, March 24 competing at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational. The tournament will be held at the Kankakee, IL Country Club beginning at 12 noon, CST. The Invitational day 2 will be held Saturday, March 25, 12 noon start.
GSU Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach Fred Hawkins looks forward to the season openers. "Starting at noon both days will make for warmer weather than the early morning starts. We are getting the teams ready for the CCAC Conference tournament later this spring next month. The women's team will have two individuals competing" (Kylie Maloney, Kelsey Brown).
The Jaguar men's team will have five competing, Tyler Bannon, Alex Cortez, Dominic DalPolo, Kevin Kompier, and Hillel Watkins.
Coach Hawkins talked about his men's team and the GSU golf schedule ahead. "We have the potential to be a good team and we need consistency with all the players playing well at the same time. A lot of our schedule is competing against the top Division II and NAIA teams in the area and playing the good courses, helping us in recruiting," said Hawkins.
