Ashley Ramos, a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, has leveled criticism at Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, accusing him of leveraging a pro-abortion stance to appeal to a new voting demographic. According to Ramos, Johnson has turned to this messaging in response to dwindling popularity.

“@ChicagosMayor Brandon Johnson you’re losing ground everywhere else so you fall back to, ‘I support the death of the preborn’ that’s another way to make room for your new voting demographic huh?” Ramos said on Facebook. “Every unborn baby opens up a crib for an illegal.”

The mayor shared a detailed statement on the matter, emphasizing the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which he described as preserving the constitutional right to choose. Johnson reiterated his pro-abortion stance on X, expressing his commitment to protecting reproductive rights in the city.

“As mayor, I reaffirm our commitment to protecting the reproductive rights of all residents of our great city,” Johnson said on X.

He stressed that he would staunchly oppose any challenge to this commitment.

Ramos hails from Bradley and has her roots in Chicago Heights where she spent her early years in Momence. After completing her education at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School in 2005, she undertook radiology courses at Kankakee Community College. A devoted mother and e-commerce specialist, Ramos brings a wide range of skills to her candidacy. She is also a licensed notary and holds certification in CPR as per her campaign website.
