City of Palos Heights Planning & Zoning Committee met May 28

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

CALL TO ORDER

Chairman McGovern called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. on May 28, 2024. In attendance were: Chairman McGovern, Alderman McGrogan, Alderman Key and recording Secretary Morgan Pukula.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Alderman McGrogan motioned to approve the planning and zoning committee meeting minutes from April 23, 2024, seconded by Alderman Key. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

None.

OLD BUSINESS

DOCKET 2024-01: A petition filed by Hameza Salim on behalf of Wiseguys Barber Lounge LLC to allow Wiseguys Barber Lounge LLC to operate a barbershop as a special use within the premises located at 13405 S Ridgeland Avenue, and contained within the following PIN: 23-32-300-039-0000.

Discussion was had about a previous business in the suite, and that the city wants to encourage businesses to come in to Palos Heights, but also acknowledge that business owners and land owners have correct permits and know the proper procedures in order to complete work.

Chairman McGovern motioned to accept the request of the applicant at 13405 S Ridgeland Avenue: Wiseguys Barber Lounge, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion to approve the request was:

Ayes: (1) McGrogan

Nays: (2) McGovern, Key

With 1 affirmative vote, the motion is rejected.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

ADJOURN

There being no further business, Chairman McGovern motioned to adjourn,seconded by Alderman McGrogan. All in favor and motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:08 pm.
