City of Oak Forest Veterans Commission met July 18

5. Old business:

• Tom Ceska volunteered to retire the flags at the Barn he boards his horse Mokena. Another date will be set to finish retiring the flags

• Veterans Commission will present Jim Watsons proclamation at his assisted living location in Crest Hill on July 19 leave Oak Forest about 12:00.

• The flag deposit box needs to be emptied again.

6. New business

• September of this year we will talk with PD / FD and Gaelic Park to see if we should move the event to Gaelic Park.

◦ Also planning needs to start in September with First Responders.

• Department heads suggested we move the event off July 4th (busiest day for PD & FD departments and no one volunteering to work). Next year maybe Thursday July 3rd Saturday July 5th.

7. Once around the Table

• Planning for Independence Day 2025 picnic and concert at Park District Pavilion behind main Park District building. Need to pick a day Thursday July 3 or Saturday July 5.

▪ We must mail the lanyards to Operation Gratitude.

▪ We had 375 people attend the music venue at the Park District pavilion
