William A. Erdakos, U.S. Navy Veteran and Chicago Sports Fan, Dies at 83

William A. Erdakos, 83, of Tinley Park, IL, passed away on October 6, 2024. A U.S. Navy Veteran, Erdakos enjoyed activities such as golfing, fishing, coin collecting, playing poker, and birdwatching. He was a devoted fan of Chicago Sports teams, including the Blackhawks, Cubs, White Sox, Bears, and Bulls. Above all, Erdakos cherished spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Connie J. Erdakos (nee Martinez), and his children David Marr, Elana (Hadar) Erdakos-Roizman, Caroline (Keith) Adams, Jason Erdakos, and Erika Erdakos. Erdakos will be remembered as a loving grandfather to Nick, Katie, Sophia, Max, Jordan, Christian, and Elsie. He was the caring brother of the late Carolyn Erdakos, late Toni (Vince) Mandel, Pat Kujawa, Joanne (Jim) Guetschow, and Judy (Paul) Galassi. Erdakos was the son of the late Angelo Erdakos and the late Rita O’Rouke, and a beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home in Tinley Park, IL. Interment will be Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or Dementia Foundation.
