William (Bill) E. Blackstone Remembered for Love and Dedication to Family and Service to Community

Orland Park, Illinois - William (Bill) E. Blackstone, aged 79, passed away on November 12, 2024. Bill was the beloved husband of Denise Blackstone and a loving father to William, Joseph, Shane, Justin, Jared, and the late Ryan Blackstone. He was a cherished grandfather to Isabel, Matilda, Bradley, Thomas, David, Meghan, Shannon, Joseph Jr., and Logan, and a caring "grandpa" to Conner and Cooper. Bill was also a fond brother to John and Marion Blackstone and a kind uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved by his faithful companions Lilly and Coco.

Bill's memory will be held close for his love, loyalty, kindness, and strength. Born in East Chicago, Indiana, he excelled in baseball and gymnastics at Thorton Township High School before serving as a dedicated member of the police force, earning numerous awards and commendations. After a distinguished career in law enforcement, he continued his service at ArcelorMittal steel mill until his retirement in 2018.

A dedicated husband and father, Bill's commitment to his family knew no bounds. His role as a father to six boys was filled with coaching, teaching life skills, and being a constant presence in their lives. His love extended to coaching sports teams, celebrating life milestones, and imparting a love for golf to his grandchildren. Bill's humor and comforting gestures will always be treasured by those who loved him.

Friends and family are welcome to honor Bill's life during the visitation on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lawn Funeral Home in Orland Park. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. George Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
