Michael L. Sliwa Sr. Remembered for Dedication to Family, Career, and Service

Orland Park, Illinois - Michael L. Sliwa Sr., age 69, passed away on November 14, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Mary Sliwa (née Stroud) and a loving father to John Janda (Melody), Elizabeth (Daniel Harkness), and Michael Jr (Dominika). Michael was the proud papa to five princesses, Natalia, Leona, Susanna, Daniela, and Lilianka. He was also a step-grandfather to Ashley Wall, Adam Wall, and Simon Koscielniak. Michael was the son of the late Leonard and Marie Sliwa and dear brother to Debra Sliwa, Jeffery Sliwa, and James Sliwa (Maryla). He served as a mentor and godfather to Nicole Modjeski, James Sliwa, and Hannah Sliwa and was a friend to many.

Michael's academic achievements included a bachelor's degree from GMI and a master's degree from Lewis University. He dedicated 42 years to a successful career at General Motors before retiring to spend quality time with Mary, his grandchildren, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's memory to the Knights of Columbus (www.kofc.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.donate.cancer.org).

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will commence on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Lawn Funeral Home, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church.
