James Andrew Tabor, Educator and Musician, Dies at 73

Orland Park, IL — James Andrew Tabor, a beloved husband, father, musician, educator, and friend, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 73. James, known as "Jim," was born on February 15, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. He leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and life's lessons that touched the hearts of many.

James is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Tabor, and their children James, Nicholas (Elizabeth), Anthony (Kimberly), Joseph (Elisa), Angela (Christopher) Lappa, and Michael (Abbey) Tabor. He was also a cherished grandfather to Taylor, Brianna, Skylar, Isabella, Sophia, Julianna, Luke, Penelope, Jacob, Evelyn, Olivia, and Samuel. James is remembered as a loving brother, godfather, and friend to many, including his four-legged companion, "Loudog."

A passionate musician, educator, and professional, James dedicated his life to his family, music, and guiding generations of students. His enthusiasm for music, both on stage and in the classroom, left a lasting impact on those he encountered. James' legacy lives on in the House of Music, the Tabor family music store, which he inspired in 2007.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Colonial Chapel in Orland Park from 3-8 p.m., with the Funeral Service scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL.
