Lucille M. (Hynes) Carroll, 84, known for her dedication to family, friends, and joy, passed away on January 17, 2025, after bravely battling Alzheimer’s and a recent cancer diagnosis. She lived each day with kindness, dignity, and grace, spreading love wherever she went.

Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William P. Carroll, whom she missed for his laughter every day. She was a loving mother to Michael (Jen), Peggy (David), and Thomas (Lena), and a devoted cheerleader for her grandsons Patrick Bruno, Billy, Kevin, Johnny, Danny, Jimmy, and great-grandson Sebastian. She was a treasured aunt to nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Born into an Irish Catholic family to immigrants Michael and Cecelia Hynes, Lu, as she was affectionately called, grew up with her late sister Rita and brother Eugene. In her youth, she excelled as an Irish dancer with the Pat Roche Irish Dancers and was even featured in "Steps in Time: The History of Irish Dance in Chicago."

Lu fondly remembered her time at Fox Business School, her career at A. Daegar where she met Bill, and her years at Baird & Warner Real Estate. Lu and Bill enjoyed their retirement traveling together.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8 p.m., with the funeral on Friday at St. Michael Church after prayers at Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home. A live stream link will be available for the Mass. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery with a luncheon afterward.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter in Lu’s memory are appreciated.

Lu will be deeply missed but her memory and spirit will remain forever. May she rest in eternal peace with Bill.
