Jeffrey F. Herbas, aged 40, passed away surrounded by family on February 23rd, 2025. Born on February 4th, 1985 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, he excelled academically and athletically throughout his youth. After graduating from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois, Herbas moved to Cochabamba, Bolivia, where he discovered his passion for childhood education and spent several years teaching math and science at the American International School of Bolivia.

His dedication to teaching was acknowledged with various awards and recognition, with Herbas eventually becoming the Middle School Coordinator. Following a cancer diagnosis, he moved back to the Chicago suburbs with his partner, Vera Bentley, to focus on treatment. Herbas continued to share his love for education by substituting in Chicago schools, offering support to new Spanish-speaking students. Described as having a gentle spirit, Herbas touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and dedication to learning.

He is survived by his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, partner, and extended family. Visitation is scheduled for March 5, 2025, at Curley Funeral Home, with a Mass to be held on March 6, 2025, at St. Linus Parish in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
