Joan Strueck Remembered for Dedication as a Teacher and Love for the Arts

Joan Strueck, 93, passed away on March 30, 2025, predeceased by her beloved husband, August. She was the devoted mother of Susan Burke, Mary Para, Lisa O'Connell, and Jenifer Tarach. Joan was cherished as the grandmother of Michael and Emma Burke, Julia and Lauren Para, Liam, Hayden, and Gwendolyn O'Connell, Griffin and Anna Tarach; and great-grandmother of Rosemary Burke. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Harriet Misiak.

A former teacher at Hazelgreen School in Alsip for 24 years, Joan's passion for the arts, particularly dance and painting, inspired the children she taught. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and traveling with her sister-in-law Rose Mary.

A Memorial Mass in her honor will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Franciscan Village Chapel in Lemont, IL. Joan Strueck will be forever remembered for her dedication to teaching and her love for the arts, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and love.
